221 Main Street Terrace
Project Location: San Francisco, CA
Client: Columbia Property Trust
Description:
From concept through construction observation, The Guzzardo Partnership, Inc. re-imagined the patio, which coincidentally was originally designed by our predecessor firm, Guzzardo and Associates in 1974 as one of the neighborhood’s first roof gardens.
Through close collaboration with the ownership and build team, TGP-INC’s design elevates this 10,000 sq. ft. tenant amenity space to a multiple-layered signature landscape. The site features flexible space with an iconic trellis and bar, tiered gardens, and sloped pathways leading to view deck overlooking the heart of San Francisco’s SOMA district. In addition the outdoor living room, conference break out spaces and a fitness area accommodates a rich array of uses from dawn to dusk. The key concept was to elevate a portion of the outdoor living room to dramatize the view down to the future park that will be built on the Temporary Transbay Terminal site.
Attention to resilient yet refined architectural finishes paired with water-wise yet vibrant accent planting help set a chic, timeless tone. The geometry of the design’s surfaces and edges are traced in lights for a showy presence after dark.
