Franklin Templeton Headquarters
Project Location: San Mateo, CA
Client: Devcon Construction
Description:
This campus was originally master planned in 1997 with its first phase completed in 1998 and its second, and final phase completed in late 2019. The inwardly oriented original design was anchored by the clock tower and central square.
The updated design includes a new sculpture by Richard Deutsch as well as many more outdoor activity areas. These include a main square with barbeques, trellies, fireplace defined partially by the art installation walls, an Olive grove for informal meetings, basketball court and a wide axial walkway connecting the campus to the new neighborhood of Bay Meadows. The campus design combined the original and new concepts for outdoor activities seamlessly despite the 20 year gap in construction.
